Flapping Airplanes, which is building models that learn from far less data, closed a Series A co-led by Index Ventures and Lux Capital at a reported $6 billion valuation.

Flapping Airplanes, a San Francisco AI research lab about a year old, announced a $1 billion Series A on Wednesday, co-led by Index Ventures and Lux Capital. TechCrunch and SiliconANGLE report a $6 billion valuation, which the company has not confirmed. The lab says it is building models that learn from far less data than today’s frontier systems, running on its own GPU “megakernel” framework that handles training and inference inside a single kernel.
