The company told Semafor it is releasing the tool under open source and that CoreWeave, Akamai and Crusoe have agreed to offer it to customers.

Perplexity said on Thursday it is open-sourcing SPACE, the sandbox platform it has used to isolate AI agent and user code. In an interview with Semafor, Perplexity staff engineer Zibi Braniecki said many companies hit a wall building secure agents and that SPACE is meant to help. Perplexity told Semafor it has lined up CoreWeave, Akamai and Crusoe to offer SPACE to customers. Perplexity told Semafor that nine models it tested failed to escape SPACE in 118 attempts. The GitHub project describes SPACE as a pluggable-runtime sandbox for running agent and user code in isolation.
