Governor Olayemi Cardoso met People’s Bank of China Governor Pan Gongsheng in Bangkok; no date, plan or timeline has been given for the visit or any arrangement.

Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Olayemi Cardoso says Nigeria will press for practical arrangements to ease cross-border payments with China during a forthcoming visit to Beijing. Speaking after the IMF and World Bank annual meetings in Bangkok, Cardoso said he met Pan Gongsheng, governor of the People’s Bank of China, and that their talks covered cross-border payments, settlement arrangements, financial technology and trade finance, according to Nairametrics and Business Today NG. “We intend to build on these discussions during our forthcoming visit to Beijing,” he said, as quoted by Business Today NG. The CBN has not given a date for the visit or disclosed any implementation plan or timeline, Nairametrics reports. For Nigerian importers who pay Chinese suppliers, any change depends on what, if anything, the visit produces.
