Anduril plans a $3.7B shipyard at Sparrows Point, in Baltimore County, to make submarine components, with a Navy contract of up to $2.9B and operations targeted for 2030. Maryland and Baltimore County have committed to match up to 13% of the expected private investment, subject to legislative approval.
Anduril says the site, called Arsenal-2, will make components and large assemblies for Virginia-class submarines, with final assembly staying at Electric Boat and Newport News. The $3.7B is expected investment, and the Navy contract is worth up to $2.9B; the “$6.6 billion” in Anduril’s headline is its sum of the two. The state says its match needs approval from the General Assembly and the Baltimore County Council. Lone Cowry, CTN’s parent company, is DC based. Full story: CTN’s Anduril report.
